For locals there will be some parking at the venue, but do let us know if you intend to drive there so that we can ensure there's a space for you.
There'll be transportation arranged for people staying at 2 of our recommended hotels (Quinta Real & Novotel). Don't worry if you choose to stay in Camino Real, it is right across the street from Quinta Real. See the Additional Details section for information on the hotels. We'll let you know more details closer to the date.

we recommend you get a mobile data plan to make things easy; we recommend getting an eSim from HolaFly if your phone supports eSims (do you see something like "Add cellular / eSim plan" on your iPhone's Settings > Cellular or your Android's Settings > Connections > SIM Manager?). Otherwise, talk to your provider.
🚗 Move
by car, either with Uber, taxi, or rental*; we don't recommend public transport.

Northern Mexican food is steak (good ones: El Gran Pastor, La Nacional) and tacos (good ones: Tacos Atarantados, Botanero Moritas Valle), but there's also a variety of restaurants you will expect in a city. Near the hotels we recommended there are good restaurants and food areas with a variety of choices: Señor Tanaka, Mochomos, Fashion Drive (you can also just explore this area). See the "Additional Information" section above for more details and options.
💰 Money
Monterrey can be cheap, but you can also find expensive places. Usually every place will take card, but it's worth having a little bit of cash (MXN) on you.
Local currency is the Mexican peso (MXN). Rough conversions (divide by 20 for GBP, by 10 for NZD, and by 17 for USD).

Visit the largest artificial lake in Mexico (or it was last time I checked), which takes you to a large green area that has remnants of the city's industrial history, and finish the night at el Lingote (a good restaurant with a view on top).

And nature! You can go see a small waterfall or do a mountain hike.

🏖️ Extend your trip 🏛️
Once you are in Northern Mexico you can fly north to the US or to some other place in Mexico (you could do a beach or some ruins, ...links coming soon).

Monterrey, Mexico, is located at the base of the Sierra Madre Oriental mountains, providing a mix of modern facilities and cultural attractions. The city is known for its diverse culinary options, large parks, and museums, making it an ideal starting point for further exploration of Northern Mexico. It is pretty safe, but like any big city, keep an eye on your bags and be sensible.

Quinta Real (ours)
Transport will leave from Quinta Real (we'll consider a transport from Novotel if enough people pick that option). Otherwise, we just expect people to meet us at Quinta Real, since the other hotel (Camino Real) is at walking distance.
We'll stay here (the day before and the night of our wedding). Doesn't include breakfast but has great service and rooms. It is very close to some great restaurants and a nice shopping area (where you can shop, eat, or get an Uber easily to move about Monterrey).
Camino Real (recommended)
Slightly less expensive and it is right in front of the Quinta Real above (2 minute walk from). Even closer to the shopping area linked above.
Novotel

Just Food
Monterrey has a lot of food options (being a city), and its traditional cuisine is Northern Mexican. This includes tacos, where you have both late night or breakfast tacos (i.e. something fatty to get rid of a hangover).

🖼️ Museo Marco - Modern art museum in the center of the city. Also has a restaurant with a nice Mexican menu from Tue to Sun 13:00 to 16:00.

📍Paseo Santa Lucía - Largest artificial lake in Mexico. Takes you to fundidora or city centre.
📍Parque Fundidora - Large green area; used to be an old steel production plant, and at some point it hosted F1 races. It's a good place to walk, and also has the museum below.

☀️ Weather
It will be sunny, but we are getting married at peak winter time. Do check the weather forecast prior to packing your bag, but on average January sees highs of 22℃ and lows of 10℃.
👔 Dress Code
The dress code for the event is formal (e.g. suit and mid-to-long dress). Do bring a jacket or something warm to cover up for the evening (it might be chilly).
