The City. Monterrey
"Desde el cerro de la silla, diviso el panorama donde empieza a anochecer."
"From Saddle Mountain's crest, I gaze upon the scene where twilight begins to fall."
Traditional song about Monterrey, "El Corrido de Monterrey" by Severiano Briseño.
Monterrey, Mexico, is located at the base of the Sierra Madre Oriental mountains, providing a mix of modern facilities and cultural attractions. The city is known for its diverse culinary options, large parks, and museums, making it an ideal starting point for further exploration of Northern Mexico. It is pretty safe, but like any big city, keep an eye on your bags and be sensible.

Just Food
Monterrey has a lot of food options (being a city), and its traditional cuisine is Northern Mexican. This includes tacos, where you have both late night or breakfast tacos (i.e.
something fatty to get rid of a hangover).

Things to do
🖼️ Museums
📍 Sight seeing
This can all be done in a day.
📍
Paseo Santa Lucía - Largest artificial lake in Mexico. Takes you to fundidora or city centre.
📍
Parque Fundidora - Large green area; used to be an old steel production plant, and at some point it hosted F1 races. It's a good place to walk, and also has the museum below.
🖼️
Museo del Acero (horno 3) - It is inside Parque Fundidora. Explains the history of Monterrey's steel production, and has
a good restaurant with a view on top.
⛰️ Nature
⛰️
Cola de Caballo (pp. $40MXN/$2.5USD/£2GBP/$4NZD) - 27m (88ft) waterfall, might not have water, so maybe ask the hotel clerk beforehand.
⛰️
Chipinque (pp. $20MXN/$1.2USD/£1GBP/$2NZD)- If you are up for a nice hike. It's about 20 mins away from the hotel area (by Uber). You'll need to pay to go in, bring a few cards or cash. Here's a blog from Lauren.
Lauren's been. I don't know Lauren.

It will be sunny, but we are getting married at peak winter time.

👔 Dress Code
The dress code for the event is formal (e.g. suit and mid-to-long dress). Do bring a jacket or something warm to cover up for the evening (it might be chilly).
